Chesapeake Appalachia, LLC Public Hearing Held January 17th

The Board of Supervisors conducted a public hearing on January 17th to take testimony and public comment on the conditional use application filed by Chesapeake Appalachia, LLC for their proposed gas well site at 985 Neville Road. Visit the Township web site at www.brightontwp.org for more details.

Countywide Earned Income Tax Collection Begins in 2012

Brighton Township Online Bill PayOnline Credit Card Payments Now Available!

The Municipal & Sewage Authorities have added online payment capability to their utility billing operations. Customers may now access their current account information through the Utility Billing link on the home page of the Brighton Township web site: brightontwp.org

Fish fry dates
February 3, 17 & 24; March 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 and April 6 & 20 at the Brighton Township Firemen's Social Halll on Dutch Ridge Road.

 

February 19The Vanport VFD holds its annual Chili Cookoff at the firehall at 435 Jefferson Ave. Restaurants, caterers & individuals compete to see who makes the best chili. Held from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $5, children under 5 are free.

 

February 26An all-you-care-to-eat spaghetti dinner sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 766 at the Brighton Township Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall on Dutch Ridge Road from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dinners are $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and $5 for children 10 and under. This troop is sponsored by the Brighton Township Volunteer Fire Department.

 

MARCH 31, APRIL 1The annual Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival held at the Lodge in Bradys Run Park. Breakfast of sausage and all you care to eat pancakes and 100% pure maple syrup. Breakfast is $8 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under.

 

 

MARCH 31, APRIL 1The Heinz History Center's Civil spring opening exhibit at the Beaver Heritage Museum at One River Road Extension in Beaver. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 - 4 p.m. on Sunday.

 

APRIL 7The annual Brighton Township Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 2 to 10 at Two Mile Run Park on Gypsy Glen Road. Starting time is 11 a.m. Lots of prizes.

 

APRIL 30Annual Arbor Day Festival at the Gazebo in Irvine Park in downtown Beaver. Speakers, prizes and refreshments. Event begins at 10 a.m. Free admission and all are welcome

 

FUTURE EVENTSThe Brighton Township Park and Recreation Board is busy planning the following events: May or June - Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game, August - Lake Arthur trip, late September - trip to Kentuck Knob near Fallingwater and December 8 - holiday bus trip.

TAX HELP FOR THE ELDERLY & LOW INCOME PEOPLE - AARP TaxAide - a FREE service will be available at the Beaver Area Memorial Library on Mondays & Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. February 3 thru April 13, except February 20 (Presidents Day) and April 6 (Good Friday). This is an appointment only site. Call 724-252-6485 8:30 a.m. to noon Mondays thru Friday only to make your appointment. Other Tax Aide sites are available for tax help throughout the County. All sites are e-file this year.

MARCH 3 Lunch at the Beaver Area Memorial Library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade soups, breads & desserts will be available for sale. Takeouts are available after 1 p.m.

 

MARCH 31 The 50th Anniversary Party at 2 p.m. celebrating 50 years at the present location. This is the kick off for the year's celebration.

 

Now on sale: The Beaver Library's 50th Anniversary Cookbook. This commemorates 50 years in the present building. On sale for $11 and available at the library and many other Beaver businesses.

FEBRUARY 2, 3 Ensemble Immersion is a mixture of music, theater and literature by the students at LPPAC. Expect the unexpected. Tickets are $5.

FEBRUARY 14 Concert by the Charter School Orchestra. Tickets are $5.

February 29 River City Brass perform Fabulous Fifties at LPPAC at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $19 and $21, with discounts available for senior citizens.

FEBRUARY 24 - 26, mARCH 2 - 4 LPPAC presents It Runs in the Family. Tickets are $12 and $15.

march 6 Student recital for the Department of Music at LPPAC. Solo and chamber music. Tickets are $5.

MARCH 9 - 12 LPPAC presents POP! (And the Art of Dance) a retro-cool tribute to the Golden Age of rock & roll, R&B, soul & pop in music and dance. Tickets are $12, $15 and $20.

MARCH 24LPPAC presents Children's Theater The Phantom Tollbooth - a tale of a boy who must save princesses Rhyme & Reason. Performances at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. & 3 p.m. Tickets are $8.

april 13, 14, 19, 20 & 21The Bobcat Players present Over the River and Through the Woods, a tale of a memorable and traditional Italian-American family. Performances held at the Ed Shaughency Theater in the Beaver High School at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8.

APRIL 22 LPPAC presents a Jazz Festival featuring top artists from Pittsburgh and Boston, while show-casing local talent at 2 p.m.
